Me, lonely?

Let’s get vulnerable!
I do not like this one..
Have you ever been in a crowded room, yet felt like you were the only one there? Perhaps you became extremely aware that you are a part of no one’s conversation. Or maybe you’ve reached out and no one reaches back. Or my personal favorite, “mhmm”, “yeah”, “oh, really?” (Blank stare while on their phone. SERIOUSLY?!) I’m not like pouring my heart out to you or anything…
This can be a very uneasy feeling and it has left me wondering if this is something we all struggle with? Or if it’s just little ole me that can’t grab someone’s attention long enough to tell them how things are going. When really my soul is screaming, “LOVE ME!” Lol.
The funny thing is, I have no shortage of friends and family that I am confident would be there for me during my time of need. Anytime. Anywhere. For any reason. Yet, I find myself today, sitting on the couch feeling very alone. Like I have no one. This is not truth, I know this. People are just, well, busy! I am usually one of them. However, that does not change the feeling I am currently experiencing. – Excuse me a moment while I cry, silently. – Okay, moment is over!!
So what do you do? In a situation like this.
Well, first, you understand there is nothing wrong with you for feeling this way. Feelings are a beautiful thing to experience, and a wonderful gift given to us by our Heavenly Father. They allow emotions when we are happy, sad, hurt, overwhelmed, joyful, etc. Happy to see someone we haven’t in a while. Or when we get that job, after waiting for what seems like forever. They allow us to grieve when we lose someone very dear to us. And they grant us the strength to deal with things that life throws at us. But we must NOT live there. Feeling something is different than sulking in it. (This is where I lived for a longgg time – not fun!).
Then, you seek God. Trusting that what scripture tells us to be true, is in fact, true! Over and over again God reminds us that He is with us..
Deuteronomy 31:8, The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. “Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
Isaiah 41:10 Don’t be afraid, because I’m with you; don’t be anxious, because I am your God. I keep on strengthening you; I’m truly helping you. I’m surely upholding you with my victorious right hand.
These are only a few.
Not only does He remind us that He will be there for us and is always with us, we also received the promise of a helper that would live within us..
John 14:16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 The Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.
As a Child of the Most High, you can have strength through the most difficult times of your life – Phillipians 4:13 – simply by allowing your Father to comfort you. Is this easy? Omgosh, NO! But by the power of the Holy Spirit living within in you, is it soooo possible. I have been working on this, and will continue working on it, for a long time. I will never be perfect at it but by His Grace I will get better and better at understanding and believing exactly how much God loves me. We will never fully grasp it this side of Heaven but there is a peace I have found in resting on His promises.
I will never tell you something I haven’t tried myself and either failed miserably at or learned from. Oddly enough, the two go hand in hand. So believe me when I say, if you will apply these to your life during your darkest days. You will begin to experience more brightness than you ever dreamed possible. Like you turned your iPhone to 100% in a movie theater.
Oh yeah, be that person!
There is a place called freedom. And Jesus died to bring you in to it!
Much love,
K
